Things I Do Not Need Because I Have a Smartphone

Many of you may know we have awesome engineering days once a month at Keystone: talk some company business, some technology, lunch, and games or something else fun. We were going to let everybody order lunch from menus at the last meeting, and instead of digging out paper menus, we passed around a Windows Surface tablet PC with the menus. It made me think, that is one more thing my smartphone can replace. So what else is on that list that I have used in the past? Here is what came to mind.windowshtcphone

  • Phones…desk phones…wireless phones…etc.
  • Answering machine
  • CB Radio or HAM radio
  • Desktop computer or laptop
  • Remote control for TV
  • TV Guide
  • Coupons and those cards on my key ring
  • Takeout menus – go ahead clean that drawer out…
  • Watching the news for the weather
  • Gameboy game systems
